UNITED STATES, Miami, June 24, 2026 (GPA) . Brazil closed the group stage with a resounding 3-0 victory over Scotland and secured first place in Group C of the 2026 World Cup, on a day in which Morocco also sealed their qualification for the round of 32.
The Brazilian team imposed their will from the opening minutes and opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the first half through Vinicius Júnior. The forward reappeared in first-half stoppage time (48′) to extend the lead and secure the victory for the «Canarinha».
In the second half, Brazil maintained control of the match and sealed the rout in the 60th minute with a goal from Matheus Cunha, who took advantage of another attack into the area to make it 3-0.
Scotland tried to react and created some opportunities through Scott McTominay, Lewis Ferguson and Lawrence Shankland, but were met by an outstanding performance from goalkeeper Alisson, who responded confidently to keep a clean sheet.
With the lead secured, the Brazilian coach made several changes and brought on Neymar, who added more minutes in the final stretch of the game.
In the other Group C match, Morocco defeated Haiti 4-2 with goals from Achraf Hakimi, Ismael Saibari, Soufiane Rahimi, and Yassine Gessime. Haiti’s goals came from an own goal by Yassine Bounou and a strike by Wilson Isidor.
With these results, Brazil finished as leader of Group C with seven points, followed by Morocco with five. Scotland finished third with three points and Haiti brought up the rear with one point.
In this way, Brazil and Morocco advanced to the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, while Scotland will have to wait for the results until Saturday to see if they qualify as one of the best third-placed teams.
